Portugal.fr

Welcome to Portugal.fr, an independent source of news, travel advice and practical information about Portugal. Curious about the people behind the website, how it all began and what drives us to keep exploring and sharing stories about the country? Here’s a little more about who we are.

Our story

Founded in 2011, Portugal.fr is published by NET6TM, an independent digital publishing company based in Lyon, France. Active in online publishing since 2003, NET6TM has developed a diverse portfolio of websites, including agencedecommunication.com, artisanat-de-france.fr, voitures.net and sejour.org.

Portugal.fr began with a simple idea: to offer a more comprehensive and accessible understanding of Portugal, a country whose remarkable history, cultural diversity and opportunities often receive less attention than they deserve.

Since those early days, the website has grown considerably, both in the range of subjects we cover and the number of people who turn to us for information. Along the way, we’ve built a community of readers who share our curiosity and enthusiasm for Portugal.

Behind the website is a team of writers, journalists and contributors with a genuine connection to the country. Our backgrounds span tourism, culture, journalism and digital publishing, bringing different perspectives to the stories we tell.

Over the years, we’ve developed an extensive collection of articles, travel guides and features designed to help readers discover Portugal, understand its changing society and explore the country beyond the familiar tourist clichés.

Our mission

Our mission is straightforward, even if achieving it takes considerable work: to provide accurate, reliable and regularly updated information about Portugal.

We believe that understanding a country means looking beyond its most famous landmarks. It means exploring its people, traditions, economy, environment and everyday life, while recognising both what makes Portugal special and the challenges it faces.

Editorial independence and funding

Despite what some readers might assume, Portugal.fr is not affiliated with Portugal’s national tourism authority, Turismo de Portugal. We are an independent publication, with no official institutional role.

The website is funded primarily through advertising, allowing us to keep our articles, guides and practical resources freely accessible to readers.

Our aim is to maintain an independent editorial perspective while continuing to develop and update the information available on the site.

Quality, accuracy and editorial integrity

Every article is researched and written with attention to detail, drawing on the experience and knowledge of our editorial contributors.

We strive to provide clear, accurate and useful information, supported wherever possible by reliable, identifiable and verifiable sources. This is particularly important when covering subjects that evolve over time, from travel regulations and economic developments to public policy and local affairs.

We also recognise that publishing reliable information is an ongoing responsibility. Facts change, destinations evolve and previously published guides sometimes need revisiting. Regularly reviewing and updating our content is therefore an essential part of our editorial work.

Above all, we want Portugal.fr to be a place where curiosity meets reliable information: a publication that helps readers not only discover Portugal, but also understand the country beyond the clichés.
